Stalemate between Odisha Govt, Maoists continues

Stalemate continues between Odisha Government and Maoists who hold a sitting BJD MLA and an Italian citizen hostage to press for their demands.The talks between three top government officials and the two interlocutors of Maoists discontinued on Thursday. Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik said that the government is examining the demands of Maoists submitted through the two interlocutors. The other Maoists group operating mainly in Southern parts of the state has asked the government to unconditionally fulfill their seven points demands in order to release of the MLA Jhinna Hikaka. The family members of the MLA Jhinna Hikaka have appealed the government to expedite the process for immediate secure release of Jhinna Hikaka.
