Stage set for Zardari losing powers to PM?

The Pakistani government has introduced a landmark bill in parliament that would transfer some of President Asif Ali Zardari's sweeping powers to the Prime Minister. The reforms would strip the President of his authority to dismiss the elected government and appoint military chiefs. The Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani, described the reforms as historic. He said they would strengthen state institutions in Pakistan. An all-party parliamentary committee has already agreed on the proposals.
