Stage set for final phase of Gujarat elections tomorrow

In Gujarat stage is set for the final phase of assembly elections. A total of 95 constituencies spread over 12 districts of Ahmedabad, Kachchh, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara and state capital Gandhinagar from North, Central and Kachchh regions will go for polls.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair polling. A total of 23 thousand 318 polling stations have been set up in all 95 poll bound constituencies for tomorrow’s voting. Of them over 14 thousand polling centers have been identified as critical. In addition to the general observers deployed by the Commission above 72 hundred micro observers are also being deployed at polling centers to keep an eye on poll process. Digital and video cameras have been placed at critical polling centers. Senior police officers from other states have been deployed by the Election Commission as police observer in all sensitive districts.

In several sensitive constituencies the election authorities have ordered for video trailing of candidates.

In today's repolling 75 to 80 per cent votes were cast in a number of assembly constituencies. According to the State Election Commission maximum polling of 80 per cent was reported at Jam Jodhpur and above 78 per cent at Bhavnagar rural constituencies.
