Stage set for Andhra bye-polls

In Andhra Pradesh, elaborate arrangements have been made for conducting bye-poll in 12 Assembly segments on Tuesday. The polling will be held between 7AM and 5PM for which 2783 polling stations have been set up in 5 Telangana districts. Over 23.5 lakh voters in 12 constituencies will utilize their franchise to decide the political prospects of a total 435 candidates during tomorrow’s bye-poll. Ballot paper is being used in 5 segments- Sircilla, Yellareddy, Warangal West, Hujurabad and Korutla while the Electronic Voting Machines will be used in remaining 7 assembly segments-Vemulawada, Dharmapuri(SC), Siddipet, Sirpur, Nizamabad Urban, Mancherial and Chennur(SC). State Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao said a central observer in each constituency and a micro observer at each polling station have been deployed to ensure fare election. About 15,000 polling staff and 68,000 police personnel have been deployed for bye-poll. Cell phones have been provided to staff and even 3G services will be used for smooth conduct of polling, he added.
