Stage set for 2nd phase of polling with six LS seats in NE states tomorrow

The stage is set for the second phase of elections with 6 Lok Sabha constituencies in North Eastern states to go for vote on Wednesday.

Of these, two seats each are in Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya and one each in Manipur, Nagaland.

Voting for the lone constituency in Mizoram, which was also scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed to Friday. Polling will also be held for 49 assembly seats of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the dust and din kicked up by vigorous campaign ended Tuesday evening in 91 Lok Sabha constituencies spread over 11 states and 3 Union Territories and 70 assembly seats of Odisha.

The States and Union Territories are Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Andman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh and Lakshadweep.

Voting will take place there on Thursday.

Wednesday is also the last date of withdrawal of candidature for the 6th phase of polling in 11 states and one Union territory.
Filing of nominations is on in 89 Lok Sabha constituencies spread in nine states and Union Territories along with 119 Assembly Constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, where elections are scheduled to be conducted in Phase seven on April 30.
