Stage all set for final phase of Lok Sabha polls tomorrow

A high octane campaign for the nine phase elections to the 16th Lok Sabha ended yesterday. After a five week long campaigning, voters of 41 Lok Sabha constituencies will go the booths tomorrow. These constituencies are 6 seats in Bihar, 18 in Uttar Pradesh and 17 in West Bengal. A peculiarity of the 2014 general Elections is the increased participation of the electorate. In 2009 elections, polling percentage was 57.94 per cent. This time when the polling in 504 constituencies was over, the polling per centage was 66.27. Higher media spending through advertisements compared to previous elections, especially by the BJP, was a feature of the general elections 2014. This elections also witnessed high tech campaigning through social media and 3D technology. 2014 Elections also witnessed personal attacks on candidates and leaders more than any other elections.

As the polling process ends tomorrow, the fate of many prominent candidates of various political parties will be sealed.
In UP, the electoral fate of several big wigs including BJP leader Narendra Modi, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra and Yogi Aditya Nath and Union Minister RPN Singh will be decided in tomorrow's polling.

Prominent candidates who are in fray from Bihar include Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Raghunath Jha, film maker Prakash Jha and Mohamaaed Sahabuddin’s wife Hena Sahab.

Seventeen seats in West Bengal witness the electoral fight of big wigs like TMC's Sudip Bandyopadhyay in Kolkata North, Dinesh Trivedi in Barrackpore and Sougata Roy in Dum Dum.

Trinamool Yuva President Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of Mamata Banerjee, is also a candidate to watch out. CPI-M's Subhasini Ali is fighting from the Barrackpore seat. BJP's candidate magician P C Sorcar (Junior) is contesting from Barasat while WBPCC President Adhir Chowdhury is fighting from Berhampore.
