S&T Cooperation between India and Bangladesh a key catalyst to find solutions to common developmental challenges: HC Pranay Verma

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Cooperation in the field of Science and Technology (S&T) between India and Bangladesh is a key catalyst in achieving larger national goals and finding solutions to common developmental challenges, said High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma in Dhaka on Tuesday. <br />''<br />''Addressing the joint scientific symposium hosted by Bangladesh Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) in partnership with India's India's Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), High Commissioner Verma highlighted the value of S&T cooperation between India and Bangladesh as an important dimension of their development partnership. <br />''<br />''The two-day long Joint Symposium is being organised with the participation of scientists from India and Bangladesh in pursuance of the MoU signed between CSIR and BCSIR during the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India in September last year. The symposium was inaugurated by Bangladesh Minister for Science and Technology Arch. Yeafesh Osman in Dhaka on Tuesday.<br />''<br />''Highlighting the work of Indian scientists in cutting edge applications like batteries, hydrogen and fuel cells, new energy, quantum computing and carbon-to-fuel, High Commissioner Verma said such new technologies represent a great opportunity for India to emerge as a global leader in those domains. And that can open new opportunities for partnership and collaboration with friends like Bangladesh. <br />''<br />''The High Commissioner said that collaboration between India and Bangladesh  can also bring unique perspectives as developing countries into their scientific research and innovation, creating solutions that address societal challenges and generating ideas that meet their developmental aspirations. <br />''<br />''Scientific and technological cooperation involving exchange of information, joint projects, utilisation of respective major scientific facilities, twinning arrangements towards capacity development, in addition to advancing technology transfer and commercialization is an important component of multifaceted relationship between the two countries. Joint research is being conducted in diverse areas of common interest, including biological sciences, food science and technology, metallurgy, nanotechnology, leather product technologies, metrology, polymer sciences and drug discovery, among others, said an official press release.</span><br />
