Srinagar-Ladakh National Highway remains closed to clear landslides debris

Srinagar-Ladakh National Highway connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir continues to remain temporarily closed today to clear the debris of landslides. The landslides were triggered after cloudburst hit the Kullan village in Gund tehsil in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on July 16. <br/><br/>IGP Traffic Kashmir J.P. Singh told All India Radio that landslides caused damage at various places on 434 Km long Srinagar-Ladakh highway. He said Border Roads Organization is relentlessly involved in the repair work of road patches and also to clear the debris of landslides. IGP said the highway will remain closed today for all types of vehicular traffic towards Baltal, Kargil and Leh and is likely to get restored by evening today.<br/> <br/>Meanwhile, Amarnath yatra is underway smoothly from both south Kashmir's Pahalgam and northeast Kashmir's Baltal routes.
