Srimanta Sankaradeva University to be set up at Nagaon

The Assam Government will allot land for the proposed Srimanta Sankaradeva University to be set up at Nagaon very soon. This was stated by Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi while addressing the 79th annual session of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha held at Titabor in Jorhat district . The State Government has already approved setting up of the new university in the name of the great saint Srimanta Sankardeva. Mr. Gogoi said Sankaradeva established the foundation of modern Assam and was one of the greatest personalities in the world who devoted his whole life for the welfare of the mankind. The Chief Minister said the ideals of Sankaradeva are still relevant in the present-day society.<br/><br/>The open session of the Sangha was inaugurated by the eminent scholar of Sankari Culture and winner of Sankaradeva Award Mr. Sonaram Chutia.<br/><br/>A book fair and an exhibition of local items organized on the occasion attracted the large crowd participating in the Session from all stated of the North-East.<br/><br/>
