Sri Lanka has co-sponsored a resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council for a two-year extension of commitments made to address war crime issues during LTTE war and reconciliation with ethnic minorities. <br/><br/>The original resolution brought in October, 2015 had to be extended at the 34th session of UN body, as several commitments remain unfulfilled. Country's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva told the session in Geneva tonight that Sri Lanka was committed to transitional justice and constructive engagement with all stakeholders. <br/><br/><br/>He said that Sri Lanka had co-sponsored the resolution because it was committed to upholding human rights, justice and rule of law. The resolution was co-sponsored by Sri Lanka with United States and the other main co-sponsors UK, Macedonia and Montenegro.<br/><br/>The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein in his remarks called for a comprehensive strategy, with a time-line and detailed benchmarks, to address all the transitional justice pillars identified in the resolution on Sri Lanka. <br/><br/><br/>
