Srikrishna Committee report provides optimum solutions, options to address Telangana issue: Chidambaram

The Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram has said that the Justice Srikrishna Committee report provides optimum solutions and options to address the Telangana issue. In his opening remarks at the meeting of the Andhra political parties on the Srikrishna Committee report, Mr. Chidambaram urged the political parties to study the recommendations carefully and in detail with an open mind. Regretting that some political parties from the state are not attending the meeting, the Home Minister called upon them to be prepared to pursue or to be pursued by people who hold another point of view. Eight political parties were invited for the discussions. The meeting is in progress. Congress leaders yesterday held several rounds of discussions ahead of the meeting with top party leadership in Delhi. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Senior Congress leader and Union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee also met with MPs and senior leaders from Telangana region and got to know the situation there. Ahmed Patel, the Congress chief's political secretary, was also present at the meeting.
