The Srikrishna Committee, set up to study the situation in Andhra Pradesh will commence its consultations with political parties and various groups from early April. Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad today, Chairman, Justice Srikrishna has said the committee would tour in the districts and visit places in all the regions of the state to hold consultations with maximum number of groups and gauge the public mood over the statehood issue.<br/><br/>Replying to a question, Justice Srikrishna said that Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s statement regarding ‘beginning the process on Telangana’ had been interpreted by somebody as a process of formation of new state. <br/><br/>Stating that the process means looking into all the aspects relating to the broad based issue, Srikrishna said his committee would apply its mind to all the related problems.<br/><br/>He further made it clear that the committee would look into the issue in concurrence with the terms of reference given to it. Referring to a number of committees set up earlier on Telangana issue, he said his committee is different as it has specific terms of reference and no political representation.<br/><br/>Stating that the Committee would not have permanent office in Hyderabad, he said all the technical information being given to the committee would be placed on a website for greater transparency. He further said the committee has met the leaders of political parties as it would create mutual trust and goodwill when they sit for consultations on the contentious issue.<br/><br/>The Five member committee has expressed satisfaction over its first visit to the state that has been undertaken to make sure the infrastructure required in place. <br/><br/>They have visited the places identified to hold public hearings besides meeting the Governor, the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary.<br/>
