Srikrishan Committee report evoked mixed response in Andhra Pradesh. Denouncing the report, students and Pro-Telangana activists have held protest demonstrations and rallies in several parts of Telangana Region. Students Joint Action Committee of Osmania University has called for a Telangana bandh today. Telangana JAC has also called for a bandh in educational institutions today. On the other hand, the Samaikyandhra Joint Action Committee has welcomed the option put forward in the report to keep the State united and provide constitutional measures to address socio-economic and political concerns of Telangana. The political groups from Telangana region across the party lines are holding hectic parleys on the future course of action. Central security forces have been deployed in large numbers at all important places across the state to prevent any untoward incident. The Government has appealed to all sections of people to observe restraint and maintain peace and harmony.
