Sri Lanka's Power & Energy Minister says, adequate fuel stocks available; requests public not to panic over fuel supply shortages

<span style="color: #222222;">Sri Lanka's Minister of Power & Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera has requested the public not to panic over fuel supply shortages. The Minister said adequate fuel stocks are available & distribution will continue unhindered. He added that fuel distribution delay due to trade unionists preventing employees from attending to their duties have been normalised, with police and armed forces providing security at the terminals & distribution. The President's office also reiterated this in a short statement.<br />''<br />''Earlier, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Trade Union had decided to suspend the process of replenishing and dispensing fuel from the Kolonnawa oil refinery installation leading to panic among consumers. The trade union had initiated this action at the Kolonnawa oil installation, protesting the government's proposal to privatize the CPC. The Minister asked the Chairman CPC to consider sacking trade union activists for disrupting normal fuel disruption.</span><br />
