Sri Lanka's National Election Commission defers Local Government polls

<span style="color: #222222;">Sri Lanka's National Election Commission has announced that postal voting for the Local Government polls will not be held as scheduled earlier. Issuing a statement, the Commission added that it will not be able to conduct the Local Government polls as announced that were scheduled for 25th April 2023.<br />''<br />''Postal voting was earlier scheduled to be held from 28th March till 1st of April. The Commission further stated that a new date for the election will be decided in the near future.<br />''<br />''Local Government elections which were scheduled to be held last year were deferred by an year due to the economic crisis in the island.</span><br />
