Sri Lanka's Foreign Ministry celebrated Indian Ocean Rim Association day at iconic Galle Face Green in Colombo

Sri Lanka's Foreign Ministry celebrated the  Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) day at the iconic Galle Face green in Colombo today morning. Sri Lanka's Minister for Foreign Affairs M.U.M. Ali Sabry emphasised the challenges posed by climate change and the need to address them in order to have a sustainable future for Indian Ocean region. The celebrations included skydiving and parachute jumping display and equestrian display by Sri Lankan tri forces.<br />''<br />''Member states of IORA put up stalls providing an insight into the country and relations to Indian Ocean. The Indian High Commission set up a stall showcasing the vibrant culture of India. The stall also featured interactive activities for schoolchildren like face painting, wall art, Word Puzzles and live demonstration of sailing knots.<br />''<br />''Sri Lanka holds the chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association until 2025 while India holds the vice chair. India will assume chairmanship of the association in 2025. The Indian Ocean Rim Association is an intergovernmental organisation established in 1997, comprises 23 member states and 11 dialogue partners hailing from regions surrounding the Indian Ocean.<br />''<br />''<br />
