For the first time, a Sri Lankan has qualified for the marathon event to the Olympic Games. Anuradha Indrajith Cooray qualified for the Olympic Games to be held in London. Former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Athletic Association Major General Palitha Fernando said Mr Coorary secured 23rd position by completing the event in 2 hours 17 minutes and 50 seconds at a qualifying marathon race held in London yesterday.
