Following the acceptance of the resignation of the current Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka with immediate effect, the Sri Lankan President has appointed Air Chief Roshan Gunathilleke in his place in addition to his current post as the Sri Lanka Air Force Chief. Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Sarath Fonseka and former Army Commander who led the war against the LTTE had sent his resignation expressing to retire by the month end. However, the resignation was accepted by the President’s office with immediate effect.
