Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena charges Mr Ranil Wickremsinghe of being corrupt

<span style="color: #222222;">Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena today charged Mr Ranil Wickremesinghe, whom he replaced from Prime minister post last week, of being corrupt and  tending to take individual decisions.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In a recorded message telecast this evening, Mr Sirisena said he had strong policy differences with Ranil, and blamed him for bond scam and poor economic management. He also charged involvement of a Cabinet Minister in plot to assassinate him. Mr Sirisena defended swearing in of Mahinda Rajapakse as Prime minister saying it was the only alternative open to him under the existing situation of political problems, economic troubles and strong plot to assassinate him.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">President said Ranil Wickremesinghe's political conduct was unbecoming of civilized politics and belittled the victory achieved risking his life in 2015. It is noteworthy that Mr Sirisena had left then President Mahinda Rajapakse to contest against him in 2015 elections.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In another related development, parliament Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today  sought to give legitimacy to Ranil Wickremesinghe until any other person emerges from within Parliament as having the confidence of Parliament, In a letter addressed to President Sirisena, the speaker urged him to reconsider his decision for prorogation of Parliament as it will have serious and undesirable consequences for the country.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The letter comes in wake of President's appointment of Mr Mahinda Rajapakse as new Prime minister on Friday and issuing orders to prorogue Parliament till 16th November.</span>
