Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said he has requested Parliamentary speaker to convene Parliament for debate on the bond commission report. Speaking at a special convention of the United National Party (UNP) held in Colombo today, Mr. Wickremesinghe said the government has nothing to hide and is prepared to debate findings of report in Parliament. His comments came as several parties including Sri Lankan Freedom Party (SLFP) had demanded the debate to be held. <br/><br/>Some UNP ministers have been reportedly named as accused in the report which has caused around 11 billion rupees loss to the exchequer. President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he will bring the offenders of the scam before the law and recover the loss to the public. Local body elections are scheduled for 10th of next month and every party is seeking political mileage out of the report.
