<span style="color: #222222;">Sri Lankan parliament will take up for debate tomorrow the proposal to form a national government followed by voting. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">United National Party (UNP) led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed to form a national government with help of other parties which has been opposed by President Maithripala Sirsiena and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">All MPs of UNP have been informed that it is mandatory for them to vote in favour of the proposal of the national government. Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardena said the government has decided to take up the proposal ignoring the opposition from other parties. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The proposal to form the national government was submitted by the Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella in Parliament last week with an aim to increase the number of ministerial portfolios. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">President Sirisena in his Independence Day speech on Monday said that it was not correct to form a national government just to give more ministerial portfolios. UNP and President -led SLFP had formed a national government after elections in 2015 but SLFP's withdrawal from the government and removal of Mr. Wickremsinghe on October 26 last year led to weeks-long crisis in the country.</span>
