Sri Lankan Navy has handed over 102 Tamil fishermen released from Lankan jail to Indian Coast Guard today. There is joy in the fishermen hamlets of Nagapptinam, Rameswaram, and Jagadapattinam as Tamil fishermen released from Lankan jail are returning home today. <br/><br/>Sri Lankan Navy has handed over the fishermen to Indian Coast Guard at the international maritime boundary line today afternoon. Sixty one fishermen from Nagapattinam and Karaikal will be brought to Karaikal private port and 41 fishermen to Mandapam Coast Guard station. These fishermen will reach home by evening. <br/><br/>The local fishermen are urging the government to ensure the release of 68 fishing boats detained by Sri Lanka. The livelihood of Tamil fishermen will be badly affected if the boats are not returned to them. The fishermen are released as a goodwill gesture but their boats are detained by Lanka as a deterrent measure. <br/><br/>Meanwhile Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the release of six more Tamil fishermen lodged in Lankan jail.
