Sri Lankan Navy arrests six Indian fishermen

Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 6 Indian fishermen on charges of poaching in Sri Lankan waters south of Mannar.<br/><br/>Spokesman of Sri Lanka Navy Captain Akram Alavi said the fishermen along with a fishing boat were taken into custody last evening. He said they have been taken to Kudiramalai and handed over to the officials of the Fisheries Department.<br/><br/>They will be produced before the local magistrate today for further legal action. <br/><br/>The arrests have a come a day after similar incident in which five fishermen from Rameswaram were taken into custody.<br/><br/>These latest arrests have taken up to 40 the number of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.
