Sri Lankan Navy apprehended six fishermen from Rameswaram Tamil Nadu when they were fishing near the Delfts island early morning. The Sri Lankan Navy also detained one fishing boat. <br/><br/>The fishermen had ventured out into the sea after 45 day fishing ban in the eastern coast for fish species propagation. Sri Lankan Navy had earlier arrested 15 fishermen from Rameswaram and Pudukottai in the past one week. <br/><br/>Local fishermen from Tamil Nadu are urging the government to secure the immediate release of 21 fellow fishermen and their 92 fishing boats from Sri Lanka. <br/><br/>Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa had written several letters urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the immediate release of Tamil fishermen languishing in Lankan jail.
