Sri Lankan navy today arrested five Indian fishermen along with their boat for allegedly poaching in their territorial waters. <br/><br/>A navy statement said the arrests took place in north of Mannar district. It said the fishermen and boat has been handed over the fisheries department for legal action.<br/><br/>This is the first arrest after dozens of Indian fishermen in custody were released in March on humanitarian grounds. Sri Lanka government releases fishermen regularly but keep the boats in custody. <br/><br/>Around 140 Indian fishing boats, seized during past few years, are in Sri Lankan custody. The fishermen issue is a lingering problem between the two countries and a Joint Working Group is trying to solve the vexed issue through regular consultations.
