Sri Lankan navy has arrested twenty three Indian fishermen along with five boats on charges of poaching into Sri Lankan waters. A Sri Lankan navy spokesman today said the fishermen were arrested off Delft island last night. After initial interrogation, they will be handed over to fisheries department in Jaffna for further legal action.<br/><br/> With the latest arrests, the total number of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody has gone up to 150. This is one of the largest number of fishermen arrested in recent times. <br/><br/>Sri Lankan government has been releasing the fishermen on a regular basis on humanitarian grounds but more than 150 fishing boats are still in their custody for past couple of years.
