Sri Lankan Navy has arrested twelve Indian fishermen along with three boats last night on charges of poaching into their waters. <br/><br/>Sri Lankan navy spokesman Akram Alawi told AIR correspondent that the arrests were made off Delft island and the fishermen will be handed over to Jaffna fisheries department for further legal action. With the latest arrests, the total number of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody has gone up to 76. <br/><br/>The spokesman said that the fishermen are dealt in a humanitarian way and may be released in near future. <br/><br/>A total of 77 Indian fishermen were released from Sri Lankan custody last week. Sri Lanka has been releasing Indian fishermen from time to time on humanitarian grounds but the boats are mostly retained.<br/><br/>Fishing issue has been a lingering problem between the two countries and both sides have formed a Joint Working Group to discuss the issue.
