Sri Lankan Navy arrests 12 Indian fishermen and confiscate two mechanized fishing trawlers

The Sri Lankan Naval forces last night arrested 12 Indian fishermen and confiscated two mechanized fishing trawlers. The fishermen were arrested on the alleged charges of violating the maritime boundary of the Island nation and indulged in illegal fishing activities. <br/><br/>The incarcerated fishermen hailed from Thangatchimadam fishing hamlet and were detained by the Lankan Navy, when they were reportedly fishing near the Delft Island. The fishermen were taken to Kankesanthurai port. They will be handed over to the fisheries officials for onward legal action.
