Sri Lankan Navy has arrested four Indian fishermen for allegedly poaching in their territorial waters about 9 Nm Northwest of Kovilan yesterday. A press release issued today said that a fishing trawler was also seized in the operation.<br/><br/>It said the fishermen will be handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Fisheries Director for further legal action. Sri Lanka had earlier on Thursday arrested seven fishermen. A total of 81 Indian fishermen are in Sri Lankan custody and procedures are on to get them released on humanitarian grounds.<br/><br/>Sri Lankan government will also announce the release of at least 42 fishing trawlers in their custody, decision for which has already been made. Sri lanka has been releasing Indian fishermen from time to time on humanitarian grounds but the boats are not released. More than 140 fishing boats are presently in Sri Lankan custody.
