Sri Lankan Navy today arrested 15 Indian fishermen and captured two of their boats near Point Pedro. According to Sri Lankan navy, the fishermen had trespassed into Sri Lankan waters for poaching. <br/><br/>The fishermen have been taken to Kankesanthurai harbor and they will be produced at a Jaffna court later in the day. The fishermen are believed to be from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu.<br/><br/>Officials of Indian Consulate General's office in Jaffna said that they will be assisting the fishermen in the legal proceedings.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his discussions with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in New Delhi earlier this month had urged for an early meeting between the fishermen associations of the two countries to find a lasting solution to the problem.
