Sri Lankan Navy apprehended four fishermen from Rameswaram Tamil Nadu when they were fishing near the Delfts Island early morning. The Sri Lankan Navy also detained one fishing boat. Earlier Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps for the release of eleven fishermen lodged in Lankan jail. She requested the Prime Minister to take diplomatic measures to ensure the release of 90 fishing boats detained by Sri Lanka. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the saga of Sri Lankan Navy attacking fishermen from Tamil Nadu beyond the international maritime boundary line continues unabated. Sri Lankan Navy arrested four fishermen from Rameswaram and detained their fishing boat when they were fishing near Delfts island. Earlier Sri Lankan Navy had arrested four fishermen from Pudukottai Kottaipattinam last Thursday. <br/><br/>Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate steps to ensure the release of eleven fishermen lodged in Lankan jail. Sri Lanka is detaining the fishing boats of Tamil fishermen as a deterrent measure. This has badly affected the livelihood of fishermen from Tamil Nadu.
