Sri Lankan Navy apprehends 5 fishermen from Tamil Nadu

Sri Lankan Navy apprehended five Indian fishermen from Pudukottai district Tamil Nadu when they were fishing in Lankan waters early today. The Sri Lankan Navy also detained one fishing boat.<br/><br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the saga of Sri Lankan Navy apprehending fishermen from Tamil Nadu continues. More than fifty Indian fishermen are now languishing in Lankan jail for fishing in Lankan waters. <br/><br/><br/>Sri Lankan Navy apprehended five fishermen from Pudukottai, Jagadapattinam and detained their fishing boat this morning. Local fishermen are urging the government to secure the release of fellow fishermen languishing in Lankan Jail. <br/><br/><br/>They also urge immediate release of 146 fishing boats detained by Lanka. The boats have suffered heavy damage due to prolonged detention which has affected livelihood of fishermen.<br/><br/>
