Sri Lankan Government has expressed deep concern about the alleged shooting on Indian fishermen, resulting in death of one and injury caused to another. Foreign ministry said in a statement that the safety of fishermen is of utmost importance and the Government is firm in its commitment to ensure that all Government agencies treat all Indian fishermen in a humane manner at all times. It said initial investigations indicate that the Sri Lanka Navy is not involved in this alleged incident. However, the statement added that all possible action will be taken, in cooperation with the relevant Indian authorities, to investigate into the incident, utilizing GPS technology as well. <br/><br/>The statement came as India expressed concern on the incident through its High Commission in Colombo. Earlier, Sri Lankan navy had ordered an internal enquiry to probe into the incident. Navy spokesman Captain Akram Alavi however, denied any involvement of its personnel into the firing saying they are not authorised to open fire without approved from its commander. <br/><br/>
