Sri Lankan CID seeks INTERPOL assistance for information on Dhanuna

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Sri Lanka has sought the assistance of the International Police (INTERPOL) to gather information on foreign bank accounts of Dhanuna Tilakaratne, the son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka.<br/><br/>Speaking to AIR the Police Media Spokesperson P Jayakody said the assistance of the INTERPOL has been sought by the CID to help them in all the investigations connected with Dhanuna. Danuna Tilakaratne, the son-in-law of Sarath Fonseka has been accused of supplying military hardware through his firm by submitting fraudulent information when Sarath Fonseka was the Army Chief. <br/><br/>An arrest warrant had been earlier issued by a Court in Colombo but the CID has yet to trace and arrest Danuna Tilakaratne. The CID had this week had opened four safety lockers maintained by Danuna Tilakaratne’s mother in a private bank in Colombo. <br/><br/>527,000 US Dollars, 100 Pounds Sterling and 15 Million rupees in local currency were recovered from these lockers.
