Sri Lankan Army Spokesman Major General Ubaya Medawala says that a programme will be implemented to rehabilitate Army deserters. He said the Army has already begun an operation to arrest Army deserters. It has been estimated that around 50 thousand deserters are absconding. So far, more than 3,000 soldiers have been arrested under the operation.
