Sri Lanka urges India to do more to help plug growing trade deficit with India

Sri Lanka has urged India to do more to ensure a balance in bilateral trade. This message was conveyed at the official talks between the two countries on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation, co-chaired by visiting Commerce Secretary S R Rao and his Srilankan counterpart Dr. P.B. Jayasundera in Colombo.During the discussions, Mr S R Rao said there was a need for targeted Indian investment in sectors that would help Sri Lanka widen its export base and enable integration into regional supply chains.
