In Sri Lanka, the United National party (UNP) led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe has brought a resolution in parliament for formation of a national government.<br />''<br />''Leader of the house and minister Laxman Kiriella told our AIR correspondent that the resolution will come up for voting next Thursday.<br />''The resolution stated that the UNP would form a national government with several parties that would uphold the principles of good governance. Mr. Kiriella said that the names of the parties would be announced later.<br />''<br />''A national government will allow cabinet size to be increased from the existing limit of 30 ministers. UNP had earlier proposed to form a national government with few MPs of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) led by President Maithripala Sirisena but the move was not supported by President.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">UNP and SLFP had formed a national government after elections in 2015 but SLFP's withdrawal from the government and appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime minister on October 26&nbsp; last year led to weeks long crisis in the country.</span><br />
