Sri Lankan government has said that it will ensure that allegations of torture committed in the country will be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. <br/><br/>The comments came in wake of a report by Associated Press (AP) saying that more than 50 men from the Tamil ethnic minority have accused the Sri Lankan government forces of abducting and torturing them since 2016. The news agency said it studied 32 medical and psychological evaluations and interviewed 20 men, most of them have sought political asylum in Europe.<br/><br/>Responding to it, Sri Lanka's foreign ministry while strongly condemning any act of torture, sought the assistance and cooperation of all those relevant parties in the conduct of investigations. <br/><br/>United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein while terming the reports as horrifying, said it merit a much closer inspection, especially if they occurred in 2016 and 2017.
