A senior Minister in Sri Lanka says that the Parliament will be dissolved in the next few days and parliamentary elections will be held soon. Minister for Agriculture Maithripala Sirisena, who is also the general secretary of the ruling Freedom Party said that the elections will be soon announced after the dissolution of parliament. Mr Sirisena said he has already asked the party to set up interview panels to pick up suitable candidates. The statement comes a day after President Mahinda Rajapaksa registered an impressive victory in Tuesday's presidential election. The current parliament's term ends in mid-April.
