Sri Lanka to finalise reintegrating proposal by month end

In Srilanka, the Action Plan for implementing the National Framework Proposal on Reintegrating Ex-Combatants will be finalised before the end of this month and will be presented to the donor community for funding and operational support.
According to Disaster Management and Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe the work on the action plan to re-integrate ex-combatants had started even before the conflict was over. The action plan aims to increase the employability of the ex-LTTE cadres and reduce the risk of socio-economic marginalization.
Eight teams assisted by two UNDP and ILO experts are currently working along with the Government to put the finishing touches to the document. The International Organisation for Migration, the ICRC and few other INGOs and NGOs are also providing the Government with technical, conceptual and operational support.
