Sri Lanka to bring home 150 students from China amidst coronavirus outbreak

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed officials to bring back all Sri Lankans including students in Wuhan and Sichuan provinces of China where the coronavirus is fast spreading. A press statement from his office said, measures are underway to evacuate around 150 Sri Lankan students in Chengdu in Sichuan Province within 48 hours and a special chartered flight has been deployed for the purpose.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, four suspected cases of the virus has surfaced leading health authorities to take precautionary measures. A health official said, those who are arriving from China would be subjected to quarantine at airport and anyone suspected to be suffering from fever will be transferred to the IDH hospital. All visitors to Colombo have been urged to wear face masks to counter any threat given the large presence of Chinese people, both workers and tourists, in the country's main city. Hotels have especially been advised that all their staffs should wear face masks.<br />''<br />
