In Sri Lanka, chief minister of Tamil-majority Northern Province C V Wigneswaran has rejected the interim report on the new Constitution saying it has deceived the Tamils and fails to meet their expectations. <br/><br/>In a message, the chief minister noted that the report has failed to accommodate the requests of the Tamil community. <br/><br/>His comments came even as the main Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has said that the framework of a united Sri Lanka is within which the Constitution will be evolved and which all should voluntarily acknowledge and accept. <br/><br/>Mr. Wigneswaran has been at odds with TNA leader and has advocated for federal status in the country. <br/><br/>The interim report of the steering committee on the new Constitution was submitted to the Constitutional Assembly last week. <br/><br/>It will be discussed in Parliament and needs to be passed by a two-thirds majority before being put up for referendum.
