A Sri Lankan court has ordered the release of all the 136 Indian fishermen, who were remanded in judicial custody, after they had been found straying in the waters near Jaffna. The fishermen are being taken to the jetty, for their onward travel to India. They are likely to travel back on Friday evening in their own trawlers.The Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu along with their trawlers were apprehended earlier in the week by the local fishermen, allegedly fishing in Sri Lankan waters and handed over to the Sri Lankan police. Later they were produced before a magistrate who had remanded them into judicial custody.Hectic diplomatic efforts were made to secure the early release of the Indian fishermen under judicial custody.
