In Football, Srilanka became the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the 'Bangabadhu SAFF Championship' at Dhaka on Sunday. The Sri-lankans defeated Bhutan 6-0 to notch up their second victory in group B and ensure a semi-final berth. It was however a bad day for hosts Bangladesh who only managed a goal-less draw against Pakistan in their second match. Their fate in the tournament now depends on the outcome of their next league encounter against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.Meanwhile India will take on Nepal in a crucial group A encounter today. India won their first match against Afghanistan. A victory against Nepal will ensure a semi-final berth for the former Champions. In another match of Group A, defending Champions Maldives will play against Afghanistan in a do-or die encounter. Having drawn their match against Nepal, Maldives need to win the match to keep their hopes alive for a semi -final berth.
