Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today appeared and testified before Presidential Commission of inquiry investigating alleged irregularities in the Central Bank Bond issue. During an hour-long testimony by Attorney General, the Prime Minister was asked about the appointment of central bank governor Arjun Mahendran and his relation with Arjun Aloysius, main accused in the case. He was also asked about the change in rules for bond issue by Central bank governor, purportedly done under his directions. <br/><br/>Earlier, the Commission had requested the Prime Minister to appear before the Commission today in order to obtain a few clarifications and any other evidence which may be necessary for the investigation. <br/><br/>Mr. Wickremsinghe had earlier expressed his willingness to appear before the Commission for any clarification that needed to be made. Several ministers accompanied the Prime Minister to the Commission, constituted to probe into bond issue which allegedly caused billions of loss to state exchequer.
