Sri Lanka PM says no protection for thieves

Sri Lankan Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that his government would not protect thieves, however there should be scope for transparent investigations to take place first. His comments came as one of his party leader and foreign minister Ravi Karunanayke is under pressure to demit from his post after findings of his involvement in bond scam. The minister's proximity to chief accused in the scam has created a political upheaval in the country and opposition MPs have brought a no confidence motion against the minister in Parliament. Prime minister said during a function last evening that now so many ministers are brought under investigation which did not use to happen in the earlier government. The Prime minister also charged some media houses for being silent on corruption during the earlier regime of Mahinda Rajapakse.
