Sri Lanka plans to invite private investors to start a public transport service with battery-driven buses. Cabinet spokesman and Sri Lanka's Transportation Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardana said that Pilot projects are planned in Colombo and Gampaha districts initially. He invited local and foreign investors to present proposals. <br />''<br />''Dr. Gunawardena added that the bus services will be run as public-private partnerships with the state-run Sri Lanka Transport Board. He also expressed hope that in the future electric powered trains to the Awissawella -Colombo, Kelaniweli railway route would also be introduced. <br />
