Sri Lanka Parliament all set to dissolve

With the extension of emergency laws by another month on Friday, the Sri Lanka Parliament is all set to be dissolved in the next few days and the general election to choose new members is scheduled to be held in the first half of April.<br/><br/> A formal announcement on dissolution of Parliament constituted in 2004 is expected to be made by the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa next week after his return from his first official trip to Russia .<br/><br/> Meanwhile, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa left the island this morning on a three day official visit to Russia, where he will hold bilateral discussions with his counterpart Dimitri Medvedev.<br/><br/> Mahinda Rajapaksa is also scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and other top officials during his visit.<br/><br/> According to Presidential Secretariat, Mahinda Rajapaksa is to be awarded an honourary Doctorate by Patrick Lumumba University in Moscow during his stay.
