Sri Lanka-New Zealand clash: All eyes riveted on World Cup's opening encounter

Chants and Cheers from Mumbai Wankhede stadium have not yet faded, but it has been four years now. Yes the most exciting tournament in Cricket, the World Cup has arrived. The world cup kicks off early morning tomorrow for the sub continent fans. This edition of the World Cup is being co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The biggest tournament in the 50-over format will conclude on 29th of the next month. In the opener, New Zealand will take on Sri Lanka in Christchurch at 3:30 AM Indian Time. In the other Pool-A fixture, Australia will play England at Melbourne at 9 AM. India, which is in Pool-B, will play its group opener against arch-rivals Pakistan this Sunday at the Adelaide Oval. All eyes are set on the first match between runners up from last two editions, Sri Lanka as they take on dark horses and co-hosts New Zealand. The match is expected to tilt in the favour of Kiwis on the current form basis, but Lankan lions are known for their fight. It is said that this is the best time and squad of New Zealand that can lift the cup. On the contrary, the Islanders have one of the most experienced batting, best seaming all rounders and lethal bowling unit in the tournament. The second match tomorrow will present the second most talked about cricketing rivalry after India-Pakistan. Co hosts Australia will take on England. A full house crowd is expected on the Valentines Day at the MCG to see these old enemies start their World Cup campaigns. The Kangaroos have been the most successful team in the history of world cup and they look equally poised in this edition as well. England on the other hand has a strong unit but has failed in recent past against Australian especially playing at their turf.All India Radio will broadcast ball-by-ball commentary of 10 Pool matches of the World Cup on its national network, FM Gold in Hindi and English, including all matches in which India participates.
