The Department of Government Printing in Sri Lanka has informed the media of a delay in the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming Local Government election.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Government Printer Gangani Kalpana Liyanage said, the Election Commission will be informed regarding the delay due to lack of funds. Ms. Liyanage said, the Department can print postal voting ballot papers within six days of receiving the necessary funds and the remaining printing work for the election can be completed within a month.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Meanwhile, the Treasury Department is yet to respond to a request for the release of funds made on Tuesday by the Department Of Government Printing.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">According to the Government Printer, a minimum of 20 crore Lankan rupees is required to commence printing work. The Local Government elections were postponed to the 25th of April from an initial date of the 9th of March. Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremasinghe has said that the Election Commission was not unanimous regarding the holding of the elections. The polls to elect councillors to 340 local councils for a four-year term have been postponed since March last year due to the ongoing economic crisis.</span><br />
